The Minnesota DNR, Chippewa National Forest and MN-FISH recently teamed up on the first of several access improvement projects planned for lakes within the Chippewa National Forest this year.

The popular Mosomo ramp within the Forest Service’s Mosomo campground, provides access to 2,852-acre Cut Foot Sioux and Lake Winnibigoshish. This double ramp with parking for 20 vehicles was recently upgraded with large concrete planks and graded slope to make boat launching easier. Total project cost: $11,000.

MN-FISH board member and area fishing guide Tom Nuestrom recently visited the ramp ahead of this week’s opener and was thrilled with the upgrades, stating it will make it easier to launch.

“The slope isn’t as steep as it was, and the wide planks are a definite improvement over the narrow planks previously used.

It looks really good.”
